I still keep my concept of 1543's Non-OS DAC should be in following basics:
n I/V stage should be passive to keep sound "nature and open" and keep DAC simple as the 1543 non-os DAC should be.
n Only one TDA1543 should be used instead of many of them parallel or stacking together. I believe that more than one TDA1543 will lose focus of sound image. This is due to the supply current of each TDA1543 will be slightly different and this small deviation will cause the result of the variation of sound image.
l V3.1 "Digital Renaissance" is not an upgraded version of V2.1 "Digital Dialogue". They were designed in different approaches.
l The tube used in V3.1 is subminiature pencil tube 6BF7, 6BF7W, 6021 or ECC70. The 6021 families. This kind of tube is a post-vacuum age's product and was mostly used in aircraft or computer. Therefore, this kind of pencil tube is very reliable and the expected life is usually longer than 10,000 hours. Because of the life and the space available and many other considerations, yes, I designed to hardwire on the PCB. (Pencil tubes have flying leads).
l Tube 6BF7W is used as a buffer. A very strange working order buffer. The power supply is very low, actually lower than 20V. The V3.1 is basically using V2.1 as a core and with Loftin-White/direct couple to tube buffer stage.
l I know that the whole design is very conflict to the modern DIY's world. To me, audio is between science and art. I would like to go for ears and art instead of eyes and datas.
l Among those TDA1543 based non-oversampling DACs, this is a unique design in the world and its sound quality is uncompromised in every aspects. Just to pursue how far the TDA1543’s can go.
l This is a handmade DAC, I design and build it all by myself. Audio is only my hobby, I build it when I have free time, therefore I usually don’t have extra in stock. If you ask for direct purchase, the price will be much more higher.
n This is traditional DAC, cannot decode HDCD signal. The digital signal accepted is based the capability of CS8414 digital receiver which means the max: 96KHz in Spdif format.
n
The modern so-called 24 bit/96
KHz DAC is in fact a delta-sigma constructed (bits by calculation and
accumulation, or more precisely 1 bit at 1 time interval). This kind of
delta-sigma DAC has extremely good resolution (sometimes nervures) but their
sound lack of density; or in another word, sound with no weight.
All my DACs in eBay are Non-OS, multi-bits designed which means that they all
have good sound stage, natural and musical yet warm sounding with guite good
density/weight characteristics. Peoples like NON-OS multi-bits DAC is simply
because they sounded with NO stress. You can just listen to the music for quite
a long time (just like old time vinyl/LP)
There are slight different:
Renaissance has most analog sound is designed for those ppls who suffered by
digital sounding gear.
Constantine tends to have best resolution, most tonal balanced and a little bit
lesser natural than 43’s in sound.
Dialogue II is very musical and natural sounding with best sound stage; however
with lesser current and higher impedance (1.6K) so it may not be suitable for
passive preamplifier or direct hook in power amplifier or direct fed into power
amplifier.
Audio system is always interior/outerior interactive. They breathe together and
share same air. More spots on certain area results in more shadows in somewhere
else.
The choice is also depended on what kind of sound you prefer. May be you can
mail to my previous winners/owners from my feedback list (use eBay messages
board) to check what do they feel about these DAC and it will be most useful
info to you. Sound is very subjective issue, I am not business man so I won’t
boast.

As for clock
problem, my opinion is:
I believe that a digital sounding
system should have only one reference/system clock and this system clock should
be in the source side. So, replacing a better clock in source (CDP where all
clock initiated) is effective and, with great possibility, positive results.
Adding clock in down stream side
like DAC may be not a good idea since there will be two clocking system.(DPA and
audio Alchemy use synchronous technique in this application, but it is another
issue). These clocks system will have interference in each other.
